Reading Specialist
Welcome to reading intervention, where we work hard to build grade-level reading proficiency in partnership with classroom teachers while developing a love of reading!
In reading intervention, our goal is to build strong, grade-level reading skills and nurture a lifelong love of reading—all in close partnership with classroom teachers.
During RTI and Tier III intervention blocks, I work with small groups of students in kindergarten through third grade. These sessions take place only during designated small-group times, so your child will never miss core classroom instruction to attend reading intervention.
Our focus varies by grade level and student needs. We may work on letter recognition, phonics, sight words, decoding strategies, fluency, or reading comprehension. I collaborate closely with K–3 classroom teachers to regularly monitor student progress and adjust groups as needed. This ensures every child receives targeted, timely support.
It’s important to know that students may move in and out of reading intervention throughout the year based on their progress with specific skills. This does not necessarily mean a student is reading at—or below—grade level overall, but rather that they have mastered (or need more time with) the particular skill the group is focused on.
One of the most impactful ways you can support your child’s reading growth is by reading together at home for 20 minutes each day. This simple routine builds proficiency and helps develop a joyful connection with books.
